Only after a careful (scholarly) examination of the Gospels, one can uncover the historical Jesus.There are four Gospels in the Bible: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. The first three (Mark, Matthew, and Luke) are typically called “Synoptics” because they tell many of the same stories - often verbatim. But the thing all four Gospels agree on is that Jesus was a Jew. Who Wrote the Gospel of Mark?In the Christian tradition, the earliest Gospel is attributed to Peter’s companion Mark who is often identified with John Mark mentioned in several New Testament books. It describes the life and death of Jesus from a strong apocalyptic perspective.However, modern scholarship disagrees with the traditional theory of authorship.
