BackgroundIf your Windows long path name to short filename conversion has been disabled, PSCAD builds may fail if there are any spaces in your project filepath or filename, or if your filename is longer than 8 characters. The following Build error will display:‘C:\Program’ is not a valid internal or external commandTo resolve this issue in v4.5.3, a hot fix was developed, which adds double quotes (") around all file paths used to invoke the compilation and running of PSCAD cases. This is the ONLY operational difference between the official Nov 21, 2013 release of PSCAD v4.5.3 and the April 4, 2014 re-build of PSCAD v4.5.3.SolutionThe preferred solution is to update your software to our latest version. Alternatively, please note the following other options:If you must continue to use the older v4.5 branch, it is recommended to use the latest version in that branch, v4.5.5.If you are using the Compaq compiler, the very latest version to still support this compiler is v4.5.5.If you must continue to use v4.5.3, then please contact the support desk (support@mhi.ca) and request the v4.5.3 hot fix. Its web pages and the downloads pages are not as user-friendly as they used to be. Note also that there is a separate page for downloading SP3. You can download SP3 all at once, or you can go to this page and download it in segments. One other point about the SP3 download: the Help files are available as a separate download, sp3_2.exe.It would be a good idea to read the appropriate readme files before downloading any of the service packs or hot patches.SP3 includes all fixes from SP1 and SP2. You do not need to have either SP1 or SP2 installed on your computer in order to update to the SP3 release. Updating to the SP4 release may not be essential (depending on your version of Windows -- see below), but is recommended. You should, at least, obtain the full-replacement CDs from Corel while they are still available. If your operating system is Windows 2000 or XP, you must update to the SP4 release in order for WPO9 to work properly on those operating systems. (WPO9 is not officially supported by Corel for Windows XP, but the SP4 release has been reported to run reliably on XP.) On any operating system, updating to the SP4 release requires a complete uninstall of your current version of WPO9. It is very important that you uninstall your current version properly. Please see this FAQ for detailed instructions.One hot patch has been issued for WordPerfect 9 that fixes a known bug that causes WordPerfect to crash when the user clicks "Yes" when prompted to close the spell-checker. The hot patch also fixes some problems with crashes related to the use of Document Management Systems. You must have the SP4 release (9.0.0.883 or higher) to apply the hot patch.
