Cross-Site Lookup Column is intended to enhance standard SharePoint lookup functionality. Component allows getting information from any site within site collection, applying list view filtering to retrieved data.Component delivers a powerful function of searching over lookup list. This function provides substring matching in selected column. It is very useful for large lists with over 100 items.Supported converting of standard "Lookup" column to "ArtfulBits Cross-Site Lookup" column and vice versa (it allows editing content of Cross-Site Lookup columns in Datasheet view). Also, useful feature for adding items on fly. There are two ways how to do that: via new item form or inline entering.Features: - Supported lookup data from SharePoint lists in all sites within site collection - Supported lookup data from subfolders - Powerful function of searching over lookup list. Using a Picker Dialog for searching items in lookup lists. - Filtering retrieved data using exising list views - Single and multiple lookup for standard mode and using Picker Dialog - Supported Datasheet view, including edit mode - Conversion among "Artfulbits Cross-Site Lookup" column and standard SharePoint "Lookup" column - Ability to add and edit lookup items on the fly- Ability to show additional fields (SharePoint 2010 only) - Language pack support (desired localization could be added by request) Why ArtfulBits Cross-Site Lookup?Default SharePoint Lookup supports only lookup within the same site, so if you need to lookup data from another site, you cannot use it. ArtfulBits Cross-Site Lookup allows users to refer to a list from any site in site collection. If list contains large amounts of data, it is not very efficient to search for some data using standard SharePoint lookup. ArtfulBits Cross-Site Lookup with Picker Dialog helps to resolve this issue. You can search/filter data in picker dialog, which helps to find the required item quicker.IP Lookup - Quick IP Lookup

Property Description name (string value; Default:switch1) Name of the switch. bridge-type (customer-vid-used-as-lookup-vid |service-vid-used-as-lookup-vid; Default: customer-vid-used-as-lookup-vid) Bridge type defines which VLAN tag is used as Lookup-VID. Lookup-VIDserves as the VLAN key for all VLAN-based lookup. mac-level-isolation (yes | no; Default:yes) Globally enables or disables MAC level isolation. Once enabled, the switch will check the source and destination MAC address entries and their isolation-profile from the unicast forwarding table. By default, the switch will learn MAC addresses and place them into a promiscuous isolation profile. Other isolation profiles can be used when creating static unicast entries. If the source or destination MAC address are located on a promiscuous isolation profile, the packet is forwarded. If both source and destination MAC addresses are located on the same community1 or community2 isolation profile, the packet is forwarded. The packet is dropped when the source and destination MAC address isolation profile is isolated, or when the source and destination MAC address isolation profiles are from different communities (e.g. source MAC address is community1 and destination MAC address is community2). When MAC level isolation is globally disabled, the isolation is bypassed. use-svid-in-one2one-vlan-lookup (yes | no;Default: no) Whether to use service VLAN id for 1:1 VLAN switching lookup. use-cvid-in-one2one-vlan-lookup (yes | no;Default: yes) Whether to use customer VLAN id for 1:1 VLAN switching lookup. multicast-lookup-mode(dst-ip-and-vid-for-ipv4 | dst-mac-and-vid-always;Default:dst-ip-and-vid-for-ipv4) Lookup mode for IPv4 multicast bridging. dst-mac-and-vid-always - For all packet types lookup key isdestination MAC and VLAN id. dst-ip-and-vid-for-ipv4 - For IPv4 packets lookup key isdestination IP and VLAN id. Method 1 – Dealing with Approximate MatchOne of the main differences between LOOKUP and VLOOKUP functions is that the LOOKUP function is bound to an Approximate Match. VLOOKUP offers both Approximate and Exact matches.➤LOOKUP automatically fetches approximate matches from lookup_arrar (i.e., B4:B16)➤VLOOKUP offers an approximate or exact match option to fetch a value from col_index_num.Performing LOOKUP FunctionThe formula we use in the Lookup result cell is =LOOKUP(H4,B4:B16,C4:C16) H4; is the lookup_value.B4:B16; is the lookup_vector.C4:C16; is the [result_vector].From the dataset, return value for any random lookup_value (e.g., Chocolate). You don’t have any entries of that kind, so the LOOKUP formula still returns a value. The resultant value is wrong. The LOOKUP formula fetches the approximate value that matches the lookup_value (e.g., Chocolate).Performing VLOOKUP FunctionThe Formula used in the Vlookup result cell is=VLOOKUP(H11,B4:E16,2,FALSE) H11; is the lookup_value.B4:E16; is the table_array.2; is the col_index_num.FALSE; is the [range_lookup].Like the LOOKUP formula, we use the VLOOKUP formula to fetch the resultant value from a selected column number. It returns #N/A as there is no such entry. Both the LOOKUP and VLOOKUP functions in one picture give you a complete sense of the LOOKUP function’s limitation to approximate match.Restricted by Default Approximate Match, the LOOKUP function lags behind the VLOOKUP function.Method 2 – Performing Both-Directional OperationThe LOOKUP function searches and matches values in both directions left to right and right to left. The VLOOKUP function only allows a left-to-right search to match. More specifically, for VLOOKUP, the lookup_value must be on the left of the columns from which it fetches the resultant values.➤LOOKUP allows left-to-right or right-to-left operability. It matches lookup_value to rows or columns simultaneously.➤VLOOKUP only allows left-to-right operability. It matches lookup_value to columns only.Performing LOOKUP FunctionThe formula we use in the Lookup Result cell is =LOOKUP(H4,C4:C16,B4:B16) H4; is the lookup_value.C4:C16; is the lookup_vector.B4:B16; is the [result_vector]. In the dataset, return value for any random lookup_value (e.g.,57). We use the LOOKUP function to get the exact result (e.g., Bran). As the LOOKUP function operates in both directions, it can fetch the [result_vector].Performing VLOOKUP FunctionThe formula we use in the Vlookup Result cell is =VLOOKUP(H11,B4:E16,1,FALSE) H11; is. A bit clumsy, but it does work :)Example 2. How to do an upper lookup in ExcelAs is the case with VLOOKUP being unable to look at the left, its horizontal counterpart - HLOOKUP function - cannot look upwards to return a value. If you need to scan an upper row for matches, the OFFSET MATCH formula can help again, but this time you will have to enhance it with the COLUMNS function, like this:OFFSET(lookup_table, return_row_offset, MATCH(lookup_value, OFFSET(lookup_table, lookup_row_offset, 0, 1, COLUMNS(lookup_table)), 0) -1, 1, 1)Where:Lookup_row_offset - the number of rows to move from the starting point to the lookup row.Return_row_offset - the number of rows to move from the starting point to the return row. Assuming that the lookup table is B4:F5 and the lookup value is in cell B1, the formula goes as follows:=OFFSET(B4:F5, 0, MATCH(B1, OFFSET(B4:F5, 1, 0, 1, COLUMNS(B4:F5)), 0) -1, 1, 1)In our case, the lookup row offset is 1 because our lookup range is 1 row down from the starting point, the return row offset is 0 because we are returning matches from the first row in the table.Example 3. Two-way lookup (by column and row values)Two-way lookup returns a value based on matches in both the rows and columns. And you can use the following double lookup array formula to find a value at the intersection of a certain row and column:=OFFSET(lookup table, MATCH(row lookup value, OFFSET(lookup table, 0, 0, ROWS(lookup table), 1), 0) -1, MATCH(column lookup value, OFFSET(lookup table, 0, 0, 1, COLUMNS(lookup table)), 0) -1)Given that:The lookup table is A5:G9The value to match on the rows is in B2The value to match on the columns is in B1You get the following two-dimensional lookup formula:=OFFSET(A5:G9, MATCH(B2, OFFSET(A5:G9, 0, 0, ROWS(A5:G9), 1), 0)-1, MATCH(B1, OFFSET(A5:G9, 0, 0, 1, COLUMNS(A5:G9)), 0) -1)It's not the easiest thing to remember, is it? In addition, this is an array formula, so don't forget to press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to enter it correctly.Of course, this lengthy OFFSET formula is not the only possible way to do a double lookup in Excel. You can get the same result by using the VLOOKUP & MATCH functions, SUMPRODUCT, or INDEX & MATCH. There is even a formula-free way - to employ named ranges and the intersection operator (space). The following tutorial explains all alternative solutions in full detail: How to do two-way lookup in Excel.OFFSET function - limitations and alternativesHopefully, the formula examples on this page have shed some light on how to use OFFSET in Excel. However, to efficiently leverage the function in your own workbooks, you should not only be knowledgeable of its strengths, but also be wary of its weaknesses. The most critical limitations of the Excel OFFSETphone lookup for free - RoboKiller Lookup

2025-03-30Method 1 – Dealing with Approximate MatchOne of the main differences between LOOKUP and VLOOKUP functions is that the LOOKUP function is bound to an Approximate Match. As the LOOKUP function operates in both directions, it can fetch the [result_vector].Performing VLOOKUP FunctionThe formula we use in the Vlookup Result cell is =VLOOKUP(H11,B4:E16,1,FALSE) H11; is
2025-04-10A bit clumsy, but it does work :)Example 2. The most critical limitations of the Excel OFFSET
