To convert to MusicBee because of its great reviews and it sounded much simpler than MediaMonkey I've used before. But, I've been working with it for 3 days now and Library is still not functioning right. And I get the ""following files no longer exist at their expected location - remove them from the library?" error that you also were getting. 11 Online I read all the great reviews about MusicBee, so I dropped MusicMonkey for MusicBee 3.0. However, just establishing the MB library from my 64GB SDXC card (NTFS formatted) on my Windows 8.1 SurfacePro has been impossible. The formal documentation on how to do such is non-existent. I've googled, read documents, watched Youtube videos, etc. And searching multiple terms on MB support forums leads me to one of two conclusions: either the forums don't address it or I'm looking in the wrong areas. So, my urgent question is:** what are the steps to populate MusicBee 3.0 library from an SDXC card that IS recognized in MusicBee Navigator Panel under Devices? (I'm under Windows 8.1. SDXC card is set up as removable media and works fine with VLC player.)**I think the need for these instructions is much greater due to more use of removable storage media. So far, this is the type of info I've found in the forums:"August 21, 2016, 01:02:36 PM"To be honest, I can't speak from experience in using MusicBee's library with removable storage."So perhaps another member with experience with this can give you some good tips. [C:\Users\raphael\AppData\Roaming\MusicBee\Skins\MusicBee3.xmlc, so I copied MusicBee3.xmlc to that folder and it worked fine.I think you could mention in the tutorial regarding installation folder and users's AppData folder. 4 You already received two answers from experienced MusicBee users. One of the answers directs you to a tutorial that perfectly explains step-by-step how you can achieve what you want.If you don't understand the explanations, feel free to ask.Yes, and I'm really thankful for the fast answers! but as you said, they're experienced users, I just installed and started using some hours ago, so I'm a newbie, and that's why I thought in a fresh installation I could do it without editing xml files (which is painfully for me).I'll try the tutorial. Thanks Topic: Backing up Musicbee to prepare for a Windows 10 clean Install. (Read 3196 times) Hi all, this is only my second post. I have been using MusicBee for a year or so as it is an excellent free program. I am having to do a clean install of Windows 10 and I have read posts and Wiki on how to backup Musicbee but I would really like confirmation that I have done things correctly before I nuke my C drive. I have used the File-Library-Backup Library feature and created 4 folders on my F: backup drive, for all my music. They are Musicbee, Musicbee Settings, New Folder, (the correct name for some music files), and RaimaRadio. These contain all the MP3 files I have on my PC. I am running 3.3.7310. After the Windows clean install, I will reinstall Musicbee and just copy and paste the 3 music folders back into the same paths that they came from, ie, in my case, This PC-Music-Musicbee-Music, then the same paths for New Folder and Raima Radio. Firstly is this all correct so far? Also, what do I do if anything to the MusicBee Settings folder and, will my Playlists be copied as well?Thank you all in advance. CliffPlease see the screenshot, hope I have done this right! Last Edit: October 07, 2020, 06:03:16 PM by psychoadept Also, there's a way now to export a settings snapshot that you can import again later. Maybe under view? I'm not at my computer to check, sorry. From the menu bar > Edit > Saved Settings > [load] or [save] settings snapshot. You can also save your panel layout from the menu bar > View > Import/Export > [export] or [import] Panel Arrangement. Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.----------The FAQThe WikiCustom Forum SearchPosting screenshots is here Thanks, Psychoadept, and phred, but could you answer my main questions, ie could you confirm or otherwise, that the process I described is correct to backup my MP3 files? And what about my playlists and what precisely do I do about settings? Thanks again Cliff Are you using the Installer version or the Portable? Using the Portable you could just copy the entire MB directory over to a flash drive or some other partition and then copy it back after the OS rebuild. If using the Installer, using the tool I mentioned to create a setting snapshot will save your settings. Copy your entire playlist folder to a flash drive or some other partition and copy it back when you've reinstalled MB. I suggest copying everything to a flash drive in case something goes south during the OS install. Especially if you only have one partition.Understand that when loading from the save settings file you must have MB installed in the exact same path you had when you saved the settings. Same with the playlists.Much better to install the Portable before you rebuild the OS. Download the latest MusicBee v3.5Musicbee 3 Last.FM Recommendations Plugin error

Have looked through the code and i cannot see how the monitored folders settings could be changed without your knowledge. The screenshots you have provided are for 2 different libraries. You do realise that all settings on the Library preferences panel are unique to each library? ie. the monitored folders are specific to the current library only. Last Edit: July 20, 2017, 09:44:50 PM by Steven yes the settings on each library are different (only watched folders are different)... strangely it worked with every previous versions...(i notice that i must adjust the setting several time (variable... 3, 4, 5 times ?) and delete each time the bad albums who appear then re-open the library... and it eventually stabilize) sometimes i believe i understand the logic (creating a new collection with new settings it seems to keep the previous setting) but not always... so i don't find any solution... really a new novelty and i need to check all the time... i read what you wrote about Simplification of MusicBee settings...... as for the setting of watched folders that change unpredictably i have done a lot of tests : it is confirmed that at each creation of a collection number n MusicBee keeps the setting of watched folders of the previous collection setting number n-1 at the next opening of the collection number n... if i correct this setting 2 or 3 times it seems to stabilize (even whis the beta-version)... MusicBee is so good and easy that this little problem slows down a bit but i manage.... MusicBee . Date released: (one year ago) Download. MusicBee . Date released: (3 years ago) Download. MusicBee . *update 3*None of my other MusicBee installs on 2 different computers had issues accessing the network share. I poked around, looked at the FAQ, and ultimately ended up uninstalling MusicBee on the problem PC and re-installing it as portable. Not saying the portable installation fixed it, I just selected portable as it puts all the settings together.I was hoping for a less brute force resolution, but its done.I think the origin of the issue came from my deletion of a previous network share on the server that had the music files. When I recreated the music file share on the server the server assigned it the same drive letter as the old one. I think this confused MusicBee.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I've moved my music files to a new server recently and have just now tried to set up Musicbee on my desktop to point to the new location. When I launch the Re-link music file paths... function and try to select the new server I get a remote procedure call failure as shown below.I can access the server via windows explorer, and on my cell phone. I can access other shared drives on different servers via the Re-link music file paths... and can move through their folder structures without error. The RPC failure occurs when I select the new file server. I don't even get a chance to select a folder.I can launch VLC and browse to the new server and watch videos without error.Any tips or suggestions on how to fix this?*update*I also get this error when trying to add files to the library*update 2*I just installed latest musicbee on windows 10 laptop and it has no issues finding the new server and the music files. I think there's something borked with my install on my desktop PC.I'm currently on 3.4.7805 but this also occurred on the previous release.thanks,Comments
