I tried the OC scanner to scan and automatically setup my Overclock settings and nothing. For some reason even at 5500 Score my 1080 ACX 3.0 was giving me artifacts and only a 5500 graphic score running at 2088 mhz while using MSI AB I was running at 2088 Mhz too and a whooping 5630 Graphic score. Overclocking the GTX 1080 with Precision XOC
Use MSI Afterburner to overclock my card, but this will not monitor the temp targets where they are needed as they will only detect core values. Same as the normal Precision XOC software (Which works, but doesn't detect any sensors but the GPU) I am forced to ask, what is the point of the ICX system if I am forced to not use it because of a lack luster detection system. I understand the reason the ICX version doesn't work on other cards, as it would be missing sensors and cause all kinds of bugs. As it is unsupported, why is it detected? Could it not just disable monitoring for any hardware ID that doesn't match a ICX card ID. Precision XOC On-screen Display Toggling On/Off --> Some game controllers and keyboard media keys are turning on and off OSD (On-screen Display) in Precision XOC.Clearly it's an issue with Precision XOC versions 6.1.8 and 6.1.9..Controller buttons and media keyboard keys such as Forward, Reverse, Stop, Play/Pause, Volume up and Volume down seem to be mapped to 'Toggle' On-screen display in the On-screen Display Settings in Precision XOC's progamming code. The complaints are becoming redundant and annoying and I'm sure the EVGA software development team is well aware of the issue by now and that a fix is in the works that will soon be made available in the next version..Be patient.Apparently, Precision XOC version 6.1.9 has been pulled from the EVGA Software Download page because of so many problems with that version. If you have problems with OSD toggling on and off and are using Precision XOC version 6.1.8 or 6.1.9, uninstall and use version 6.1.6 or earlier which seems to solve the issue for many people, including me..I have a Logitech G11 keyboard..You can find earlier versions by scrolling down the Precision XOC download page here.If you are annoyed, or otherwise, by the PXOC popup notification that says a newer version of Precision XOC is available for download, you may disable or delay that by opening the PXOC General Settings and change 'Check Updates' to 'Never' or to 'On startup weekly' or 'On startup monthly' * Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home * "Whatever it takes, as long as it works" - MePrecision XOC - Non overclocking settings - EVGA
This certainly works, it limits the highest stable overclock to the lowest point on the voltage/frequency curve. If the GPU can only overclock by 50MHz at the highest voltage point, but 100MHz at a middle point, then the highest stable overclock is only going to be 50MHz.With GPU Boost 3.0 on the other hand, each point on the curve can be adjusted individually. This means the weakest points can be overclocked to a lesser degree while the strongest points can be more significantly overclocked. All other things held equal, this should improve GPU overclocking performance, as GPU tends to shift along multiple points when it’s running. Put another way: GPU Boost 3.0 seeks to wring out the last bits of overclocking headroom along the voltage frequency curve. The only way to go higher still would be to increase the voltage, which NVIDIA hasn’t truly allowed since Fermi.Meanwhile, the flip side of having finer-grained controls is that it’s now more work to dial in the perfect overclock. Rather than testing one overclock you now have to test nearly two-dozen voltage points to fully exploit GPU Boost 3.0’s abilities, which is time consuming at the best of times. As a result NVIDIA has also exposed a setting in NVAPI to lock the GPU at a specific voltage point. The significance of this is that it now allows overclocking utilities to go through the voltage points and discretely test each one.The first software to implement this concept is EVGA’s Precision XOC. I installed a Passive cooled MSI Gt 710 Media card to just run the auxiliary monitor.EDIT 2: As Nvidia Cards Only support 4 display heads, Regardless of the config. As the 1080SC ICX has 3 display ports, 1 hdmi and 1 dvi, it has the ports needed to run all 5 display's but the architecture doesn't allow for all 5 ports to be used. So I run,On the 1080SC ICX card - 4 displays max. Nvidia surround - 3 display heads Oculus Vr Headset - 1 display headOn the 710 Media Card also 4 displays maxA 4th auxillary monitor. - this is used when surround gaming/general computing... I do this because Nvidia still hasn't figured out how to support more than 4 display heads(monitors), so the only way to use an oculus on the 1080 while maintaining my display config, is to install a second card, or disable a monitor all the time. This process screws with the position of windows and icons in Windows. Since installing that card Precision XOC refuses to launch touting ICX cards only. I don't wish to use this software on the media card at all as there is no reason to use software like this, but it would be nice to still use it on my 1080. EDIT: Is there a option to ignore the second card? Or is there a way that could be added? Not sure why icx software would be detecting other cards post edited by Fullmetal1212 - 2017/03/07 21:40:58 the_Scarlet_one formerly Scarlet-tech Total Posts : 24080 Reward points : 0 Joined: 2013/11/13 02:48:57Location: East Coast Status: offline Ribbons : 79 Re: EVGA Precision XOC ICX edition Doesn't boot when a second card is installed 2017/03/07 20:18:38 (permalink) The icx program is specific to the icx cards, so it may be a conflict to have a non-icx card installed.
